Faculty Positions

VCS's hiring season for primary faculty is approximately April to July. Other academic or staff positions may be open throughout the year (see below for more information). If you are interested in a classroom teaching position (i.e., faculty) at VCS, please submit a curriculum vitae (or résumé) through our Curriculum Vitae Submission Form to begin the process. VCS's hiring season for other academic and staff positions takes place on an as-needed basis. A listing of current openings is given below along with a description of each opening. Position Descriptions

Lower School (Pre-K through 4th Grade) classroom teacher

Summary This position has responsibility for one classroom of up to 15 Grammar School students. The Teacher is responsible for classroom instruction two days per week (Monday and Wednesday), for creating lesson plans and assignments based on VCS blueprints, and for posting assignments to the school's online portal for co-teachers (i.e., parents) to access. Curriculum and materials will be provided.
Position type Part-time: approximately 17 hours per week on campus (with 10 of those hours being dedicated to instruction), plus additional preparation time as needed. Some training and in-service days are also required. Teaching an elective would add two additional instructional hours per week.
Salary $14,500 over 10 months | $15,500 if teaching an elective (the elective salary is an estimate)
Benefits Since this is a part-time position, benefits such as health insurance or a retirement savings plan are not provided by the school.
Start date Classes begin August 26, 2019. Training for incoming teachers will take place between August 7th and 9th.
Required qualifications Bachelor's degree; agreement with and support of the school's statement of faith; strong commitment to Christian education and the classical model of education
Additional desirable qualifications Teaching experience at a classical school; Teaching certification; advanced degree

Upper School Humanities Teacher (7th grade)

Summary This position has responsibility for teaching humanities (history, literature, logic, grammar, and composition) to 7th grade students at VCS. The Teacher is responsible for classroom instruction two days per week (Monday and Wednesday), for creating lesson plans and assignments based on VCS provided blueprints, and for posting assignments to the school's online portal for co-teachers (i.e., parents) to access. Curriculum and materials will be provided.
Position type Part-time: approximately 4 hours per week on campus (9:20-11:10am on Monday and Wednesday), plus additional preparation time as needed. Some training and in-service days are also required.
Salary $4,833 over 10 months

Summary This position has responsibility for teaching 2nd Form Latin to upper school students (5th and up) students at VCS. The Teacher is responsible for classroom instruction two days per week (Monday and Wednesday), for creating lesson plans and assignments based on VCS provided blueprints, and for posting assignments to the school's online portal for co-teachers (i.e., parents) to access. Curriculum and materials will be provided.
Position type Part-time: approximately 2 hours per week on campus (8:30-9:20am on Monday and Wednesday), plus additional preparation time as needed. Some training and in-service days are also required.
Salary $2,417 over 10 months
