8th Grade Humanities | Long-Term Substitute Teacher Position Description

Summary This position would entail teaching Humanities subjects to our 8th grade students for two 50-minute periods each day on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. The hours are from 7:20-9:45am. Eighth grade Humanities includes the following subjects: History, Literature, Composition, Logic, Poetry, and Geography. In Valley Classical School’s sequence, eighth grade focuses specifically on the modern era, roughly from the 1800s to present day with concentration on modern American history.

The curriculum and pacing are set and provided by the school, and basic blueprints, weekly lesson plans, assignment write-ups, and assessments will be provided. The substitute's responsibilities would include any necessary class preparation and delivery of material, writing a short blurb (a few sentences) to parents weekly, grading assignments, and maintaining the grade book. There may be an occasional event where your presence will be requested.
