Faculty Positions

VCS's hiring season for primary faculty is approximately April to July. Other academic or staff positions may be open throughout the year (see below for more information). Other Academic and STaff Positions

VCS's hiring season for other academic and staff positions takes place on an as-needed basis. A listing of current openings is given below along with a description of each opening. You can apply to any of the positions (or multiple positions) through the VCS General Employment Application (given below). All applicants must agree to the school's statement of faith and provide professional and spiritual references. All hiring is contingent on a background check.

Position Descriptions

Lower School (Pre-K - 4th grade) Classroom Teacher

Summary This position has responsibility for one classroom of up to 15 Grammar School students. The Teacher is responsible for classroom instruction two days per week (Monday and Wednesday), for creating lesson plans and assignments based on VCS blueprints, and for posting assignments to the school's online portal for co-teachers (i.e., parents) to access. Curriculum and materials will be provided.
Position type Part-time: approximately 17 hours per week on campus (with 10 of those hours being dedicated to instruction), plus additional preparation time as needed. Some training and in-service days are also required. Teaching an elective would add two additional instructional hours per week.
Salary $12,500 over 10 months | $13,500 if teaching an elective (the elective salary is an estimate)
Benefits Since this is a part-time position, benefits such as health insurance or a retirement savings plan are not provided by the school.
Start date Classes begin August 27, 2018. Training for incoming teachers will take place between August 6th and 10th.
Required qualifications Bachelor's degree; agreement with and support of the school's statement of faith; strong commitment to Christian education and the classical model of education
Additional desirable qualifications Teaching experience at a classical school; Teaching certification; advanced degree

Choir Teacher

Summary This position has responsibility for teaching two to four half-hour blocks of choir class for VCS students on campus Mondays and Wednesdays (grade range Pre-K to 6th grade)
Position type Part-time: approximately 2.5 to 5 hours per week on campus, plus additional preparation time as needed. Some training and in-service days are also required.
Salary TBD based on enrollment

Required qualifications Bachelor's degree; agreement with and support of the school's statement of faith; an understanding of vocal arrangements and how to teach and lead students to grow in their appreciation of music and their ability to perform vocally as a group; ability to accompany students on piano
Additional desirable qualifications Teaching experience at a classical school; knowledge of music history; advanced degree
