Lower School Physical Education (P.E.) Teacher Position Description

Summary Valley Classical School is seeking a physical education (P.E.) teacher who is responsible for planning and implementing physical education activities for students in grades PreK-4th. The individual will be responsible for creating a classroom environment that fosters, promotes and develops an understanding of the relationship of healthy body function and exercise; that motivates each student to cultivate physical fitness; and that develops strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in individual, dual and team physical activities and sports, in accordance with each student’s ability through developed lesson plans. Physical Education in the elementary school generally emphasizes sports-related skills, movement patterns, games, and fitness activities. The instructor will plan, organize, and coordinate an annual field day in the spring, including the development of and set up for activities. This class consists of six 25-minute periods each week (three on Monday and three on Wednesday).

Start date Classes begin August 26, 2024. Training for incoming teachers will take place between August 6th and 9th.
Required qualifications Bachelor's degree; agreement with and support of the school's statement of faith; strong commitment to Christian education and the classical model of education
Additional desirable qualifications Teaching experience at a classical school; Teaching certification; advanced degree
