Pre-k assistant Teacher Position Description

Summary The role of the Pre-K Assistant Teacher is to provide support to the primary Pre-K Teacher on campus days. The individual will be responsible for implementing group activities and instruction as determined by the primary Pre-K teacher, regularly communicating with the primary Pre-K teacher on the progress of the students worked with, and assisting in overall classroom management within the Pre-K classroom. Additional responsibilities include preparing for World Discovery, VCS’ literature-based exploratory program which encompasses literature, geography, history, science, poetry, art, and music, and attending staff meetings as requested by school administration. Primary academic subjects in Pre-K include: language arts (phonics, early reading skills, and handwriting), mathematics, literature, poetry memorization, and “World Discovery.” Off-campus duties include any time required to prepare for on-campus responsibilities. This individual will report to the Lower School Director.

Start date Classes begin August 25, 2025. Training for incoming teachers will take place between August 5th and 7th.
Required qualifications Must be 16 years of age or older and in agreement with and support of the school's statement of faith. Must also be able to lift and carry up to 25lbs, to engage in activities with children on the floor/ground, and to stoop and bend.
