Valley Classical School (VCS) -- a new and growing classical Christian school in Blacksburg, Virginia -- is accepting applications for the position of Head of School. Successful applicants will join a staff of educators and administrators who are excited about classical Christian education and the training of young hearts and minds. It is expected that the successful candidate will provide cultural, academic, and administrative leadership for staff, students, and families of VCS. He or she would report to the VCS Board of Directors. Successful candidates must have a four-year degree as well as a deep love for Jesus, His gospel, and His church; be committed to classical Christian education; and enjoy children. Prior experience in classical education, ministry, or administrative leadership is preferred but not required.
VCS is a classical Christian school that takes a collaborative approach to education. Students attend class on campus with trained teachers two days a week and then receive assignments to complete under the instruction of parents (co-teachers) at home. While VCS only meets on campus two days a week, the Head of School position is expected to be a full-time position; the starting salary range for the position is $40,000 to $60,000 per year. VCS values the content, aims, and methods of classical education and has a comprehensive curriculum that is well-rounded in the liberal arts and sciences. The school is broadly modeled after and supported by Trinity Classical School in Houston, Texas. VCS was founded in 2017 and has a current enrollment of 53 students from Pre-K to 6th grade. 7th grade will be added for the 2019-2020 academic year with the intent of adding one grade per year until the school covers PreK through 12th grade.
