Valley Classical School (VCS) -- a new and growing classical, collaborative, Christian school in Blacksburg, Virginia -- is accepting applications for the position of Head of School. Successful applicants will join a staff of educators and administrators who are excited about classical Christian education and the training of young hearts and minds. It is expected that the successful candidate will provide cultural, academic, and administrative leadership for the staff, students, and families of VCS. He or she would report directly to the VCS Board of Directors. Successful candidates must have a four-year degree as well as a deep love for Jesus, His gospel, and His church; be committed to classical Christian education; and enjoy children. Prior experience in classical education, ministry, or administrative leadership is preferred but not required.
VCS is a classical school that takes a collaborative approach to education. Students attend class on campus with trained teachers two days a week and then receive assignments to complete under the guidance of parents at home. While VCS only meets on campus two days a week, the Head of School position is expected to be a full-time position. VCS values the aims and methods of classical teaching and has a comprehensive curriculum that is well-rounded in the liberal arts and sciences. The school is broadly modeled after and supported by Trinity Classical School in Houston, Texas. VCS was founded in 2017 with 30 students ranging from Pre-K to 4th grade, and the school is expected to grow to approximately 60 students enrolled in Pre-K through 6th grade for the upcoming 2018-2019 academic year. It is anticipated that the school will continue to grow in future years and that the Head of School will play a vital role in its growth and development.
